Making: The Code Quilt

This was supposed to be the backing of the Embers quilt.  I made it using a bunch of the scraps left behind while making that top, but, I've decided I like it too much for it to go on the back.  It will be its own quilt.  I think I'll call it "Code."

It is very big.  Much bigger than this photo shows, really.  I'll try to get a better picture of it once it's been quilted!

  1. I like the concept, and you drew me in with "code quilt". I love quilts, I love cryptology... but, unless there is an actual code, I'm somewhat disappointed. Misnomer.

  2. Huh. Seems a bit silly to insist on literal representations in visual arts. We're not writing non-fiction. We're using the tools and materials we choose to convey emotion, sensation, utility. Some of these codes are rational and objective. Some of them are emotional and subjective. And they're all working at the same time. Maybe this code will be more legible if you look a little longer. And maybe the code isn't meant for you.

I love it! I also love how easy it is to translate morse code on the interwebs. Who knew?

It's really great Stacey, I agree it does deserve to be its own quilt top. Yea for the magic of improv quilting.
